Description

 1.2738 die steel is a kind of die steel produced according to German DIN standard. It has relatively superior mechanical properties and good machinability in similar grades of steel. It is mainly used in the processing and production of hot working dies, among which plastic dies are the most widely used. In addition, the special pre hardening treatment of the steel makes it have better hardness when it leaves the factory, which can reduce the heat treatment link in the normal mold processing and production, and improve the economic benefit.

2.Heat Treatment

Quenching and tempering
The preheating temperature is 500 ~ 600 ° C, the quenching temperature is 840 ~ 880 ° C, and the holding time is 30min (the mold must be quenched in protective atmosphere to avoid oxidation and decarbonization). Oil cooling, cooling to 50 ~ 70 ° C, tempering immediately.
The tempering holding time is determined by the thickness of the workpiece every 25 mm for 1 h, at least 2 h. Tempering temperature 180 ° C / 200 ° C/
300 ° C / 400 ° C / 500 ° C / 600 ° C, hardness 52hrc / 51hrc / 48 HRC / 46hrc / 42hrc / 34hrc.
Induction hardening
The surface hardness of the steel can be increased to 50HRC by flame or induction hardening, and then air-cooled after hardening. General quenching medium can be used for small module, and tempering should be carried out immediately after hardening at 180 ~ 200 ° C.

5.Feature

1.Vacuum degassing refining processing steel purity, suitable for polishing or etch processing plastic mold.
2. In pre-harden state delivery, no need for heat treatment can be directly used for mold processing, shorten the construction.
3. After heat treatment machining and polishing performance is good, the nitriding treatment, can be suitable for chrome plating surface treatment, such as material is the qualitative hardness is uniform (400mm thick), good toughness and good machining performance.
4.Good hardness uniformity and polishing property, good machining properties. 
5.Good integral mechanical performance under high temperatures. 
6.Good heat-resistance and fatigue-resistance.
7. Pre-hardened to HRC30-36 can be directly used for mold processing, shorten the construction period.
